MEDIA CHARTERS THE GREAT BARRIER REEF & BEYOND

MV Miss Rankin is the perfect charter boat for media crews being so spacious. This 29m steel hulled private charter vessel is surveyed to comfortably carry up to 12 guests and provides a smooth, stable ride even in challenging conditions. Based in Cairns and with a 4,000 nautical mile range, we can take you across the length and breadth of the Great Barrier Reef, to Weipa and the Western Cape and up and over the Torres Strait Islands and into Papua New Guinea. The MV Miss Rankin has a relatively shallow draft and skipper/owner Tony Collins is very experienced at successfully navigating difficult conditions, including narrow rivers, sand banks, debris, fringing reefs and the open ocean. We have all the latest navigation, safety and communications systems on board and our tender provides transport to and from the boat to remote islands, sand cays and other points of interest. Media specific features we provide include multiple charging stations for various devices, freshwater camera tubs and drone launch/land capabilities from the back deck. A large indoor open plan saloon is perfect, not just for eating delicious, freshly prepared meals, but also for holding meetings.

Teams of up to 12 guests are accommodated in 8 spacious air-conditioned cabins. Four twin cabins with private ensuites on the main deck have large windows providing sea views. Two are configured with twin beds while two are configured with a double bed with a single bunk above. The four cabins on the lower deck contain twin bunks and share two adjacent bathrooms. All cabins have ample storage space for the safe storage of equipment. The aft deck working space is 9m x 7.3m with a 1.2m x 5.3m duckboard, offering plenty space for suiting up and storing of gear. There is also a large cargo hold.

In addition to his skipper skills, Tony Collins has years of experience and over 1,500 diving hours under his tank, so he can assist with operational matters above and below the water.
